Challenging and Comprehensive College Preparation
Applicants are encouraged to submit all parts of the Admission Application by January 31 to be included in the first round of admission decisions. First round decision letters will be mailed at the end of February. Applications received after January 31 will be given consideration as space permits.

Submit the Application and Student Questionnaire
  • If you are unable to submit the application online, you may download the forms (from the Admission Forms section of this page) and mail them to the Cranbrook Admission Office with your $50 application fee.

  • An application must be submitted before scheduling your visits.
  • We strongly recommend that you also schedule a tour of the school (for parents only).

Schedule your child's admission testing

  • Small groups of applicants work with a faculty member doing our age appropriate standardized evaluation.
Submit the teacher recommendation form after completion of the first semester
  • Download the forms and give them to your teachers with a stamped envelope addressed to the Cranbrook Admission Office, or your teachers can complete these forms at www.schools.cranbrook.edu/recs then email, fax or mail them in.  
  • Teachers should submit recommendations directly to our office.
Submit an official transcript
  • Download the transcript release form and give to your current school.
  • Your child's current school should forward transcripts directly to our office.
  • Cranbrook requires grades from first semester of the current year in addition to those of the previous 2 years.

Evaluation Criteria

  • Will the candidate benefit from and contribute to our school?
  • How does the candidate compare to others applying for admission?
  • Brookside teachers' observations during a child's visit.
  • The results of standardized tests, the applicant's previous school records and teacher/principal recommendations help us evaluate the candidate's potential for academic success at our school.
Selection Process
Using the above criteria, the Admission Committee makes one of three decisions:
  • Immediate acceptance
  • Waiting pool
  • Denial
