In addition to the core curriculum, Cranbrook Kingswood Middle Schoolers are encouraged to take advantage of Cranbrook’s comprehensive creative opportunities, and liberal arts offerings. Students play instruments, try sports, sing in a choir, collaborate on the yearbook, or express themselves through the visual arts. In each facet of the Cranbrook Kingswood Middle School experience, from the locker room to the theater, the art studio to the campground, students are challenged and supported as they develop the skills needed for the next transition in their educational careers.

Why Middle School?

Leadership Opportunities

Every child has the potential to become a leader, and our Middle School provides a host of opportunities for students to seek out and develop their leadership skills.  Our goal is to provide every student with the tools to discover their own sense of leadership and nurture it while strengthening the school’s community and programs.

  • Class Officers
  • Crane Leadership Council
  • Green & White Team Captains
  • Student Leadership Council
  • Student-Athlete Council

Community Service

The community service committee gives each student the opportunity to establish a better understanding of the community and world that we live in. During the year we collect items and raise money for specific charities. Students create posters to generate enthusiasm and to encourage the participation of their peers in the various projects. Community service members are encouraged to volunteer at locations around Oakland County to help others who are in need.

In the past, students have read to kindergarten students in Detroit and have collected winter clothing for area womens' shelters, food for an area soup kitchen, pet supplies for pet rescue groups, pennies for the Leukemia Society (raising more than $1,000), and money for the international Heifer Project. And these are just a few examples! Our civic-minded students take these lessons and apply them to almost every situation, eager to help out or contribute the time and energy to many different causes.

Middle School Clubs

Students are encouraged to get involved with a club or organization that appeals to them and allows them the opportunity to work with peers and an advisor during club time or after school. Whether building robots or learning needlepoint, there is something for everyone!
