Commencement 2021

After a year that tested us all, it is time to celebrate!
Thank you, Class of 2021, for an amazing year and congratulations as the community honors you.
Please read below for details regarding the 2021 commencement ceremonies.

Commencement Rehearsals: June 10

  • General Rehearsal Information UPDATE: 06/09/21

    Commencement Rehearsals take place on Thursday, June 10th in the Keppel Quad and Thompson Oval. All seniors (including local AccessCK students) who have indicated they will be present for graduation ceremonies on Friday, June 11th, MUST attend rehearsals. Attire is casual with masks.
  • Cranbrook Rehearsal – 10:45 a.m. in the Keppel Quad

    All seniors attending the Cranbrook graduation ceremony are required to attend rehearsal.  Attire is casual, masks are required, and a lunch sponsored by the CK Alumni Association follows in the Cranbrook Quad at 11:30 a.m.
  • Kingswood Rehearsal – 1:00 p.m. in the Keppel Quad

    All seniors attending the Kingswood graduation ceremony are required to attend rehearsal.  Attire is casual, masks are required, and a lunch sponsored by the CK Alumni Association precedes rehearsal in the Cranbrook Quad at 11:30 a.m.

Commencement Ceremonies: June 11

Friday, June 11th in the Thompson Oval
  • Cranbrook Commencement– 10:30 a.m.  Seniors report to the Keppel Quad by 10:00 a.m. for the processional line-up.
  • Kingswood Commencement - 3:00 p.m. Seniors report to the Keppel Quad by 2:30 p.m. for the processional line-up.

  • Tickets

    Commencement is a ticketed event and individuals will need tickets to gain entrance to the Oval.  Each family attending will receive 4 tickets of admission (seniors do not need one).  At this time most seniors have picked up their tickets.  For information about tickets, please contact Graduation Coordinator, Mrs. Anna Bryant at abryant@cranbrook.edu.  
  • Covid-19 Protocols: UPDATED 06/09/21

    Our commencement ceremonies are outside and have limits on capacity.  Therefore, face coverings are required for those who are not vaccinated for COVID-19 and encouraged but not required for those who are vaccinated.
  • Academic Robes

    Students will pick up their caps and gowns from the PAC after rehearsals or during lunch time on Thursday, June 10th between 12:00 - 2:30 p.m. While seniors keep their caps and tassels, academic robes MUST be returned to the PAC by 5:00 p.m. the day of commencement, Friday, June 11th
  • Attire for Seniors: UPDATED 06/09/21

    This is a dress event and we ask that seniors implement our dress days dress code under their academic robes. This includes nice clothing with dress shoes. NO HEELS on the turf!  Please also be aware it will be a warm day so consider sun protection.
  • Parking: Now Updated

    Parking is available in the 550 Lone Pine Road lot and Christ Church Cranbrook parking lot  for each ceremony from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.  Please note these lots do not open until 9:00 a.m. the morning of Friday, June 11, 2021.

    • If parking in the 550 Lone Pine Road parking lot, we ask that community members clear the lot after the morning ceremony so parking is available for the afternoon ceremony.
    • If parking in the Christ Church Cranbrook parking lot, please note there is not a shuttle from the Christ Church Cranbrook parking lot to the Thompson Oval.  It is a beautiful 7 minute walk down Lone Pine Road to the Thompson Oval.
  • Photography, Videography, Livestreaming Link

    A professional photographer will be at each ceremony to take photos of students receiving their diplomas.  

    Both ceremonies will also be live streamed the day of the event - CLICK HERE. (Please note: a place-holder graphic is currently on the site and will remain there until the webcast begins shortly before each ceremony.)

    The commencement ceremonies are also being video recorded, and they will be available for download following the ceremonies.   
  • Commencement Picnics

    Cranbrook will be providing a picnic lunch option for grads and families to be picked up on campus before or following commencement ceremonies.

    Families interested in this option are asked to RSVP with their picnic selection.  Please click here ito indicate your picnic lunch choices.

    Lunch will feature -

    Sandwich Selection: Coq au vin Sandwich
    Toasted labaccia roll, red wine grilled chicken breast, caramelized onion and pepper, parmesan aioli


    Alternate Selection: Noodle Bowl
    Rice noodles, cabbage, bell pepper, black beans, toasted sesame seeds, carrot, soy sunbutter dressing

    All lunches will include the following:
    •    Fresh Grapes
    •    Cheese Cubes
    •    Pasta Salad (sandwich lunch only)
    •    Freshly Baked Chocolate Chip Cookie
    •    Bottled Water

    Picnic Distribution 11:45am – 2:00pm – Drive-by pick up
    For those attending the Cranbrook Ceremony:
    •    if parked in the 550 lot you may pick up near Keppel Gym while exiting the lot
    •    if parked elsewhere on campus you may pick up near the Kingswood Circle in front of the Kingswood Dining Hall

    For those attending the Kingwood Ceremony:
    •    you may pick up near the Kingswood Circle in front of the Kingswood Dining Hall as you arrive to campus

Arrival on Commencement Day

  • Families and Guests

    Please note the 550 Lone Pine parking lot will not open until 9:00 a.m. the day of commencement.

    Families and Guests should proceed to the welcome entrance near the scoreboard on the north end of the Oval, closest to the parking lot.  Early arrivals will need to form a line, as there is no early seating for either commencement ceremony.  Tickets are needed for entrance to the event.
  • Seniors

    Seniors should arrive NO LATER than 30 minutes before their ceremony time (10:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. respectively). Seniors report to the Keppel Quad and check in with Ms. Castanon, Mr. Poffenberger, and the Senior Class Advisors: Mrs. Earls, Mrs. German, Mr. Greene, Mr. Hancock, and Mr. Rainwater.

Weather: UPDATED 06/09/21

There is a chance of scattered showers on Friday, June 11th, and we will continue with our plans to hold these ceremonies in the Thompson Oval. Be prepared for warm temperatures, sun, and rain.  Consider bringing rain gear and an umbrella. In the event of extreme weather, we will utilize our rain plan which may include delaying the start of individual ceremonies.  If this were to occur, you would received clear, direct communication as to the length of the delay.
Senior Awards Night – Thursday, June 10th at 7:30 p.m.  
This event celebrates members of our senior class, as well as faculty, and will be livestreamed from the historic Kingswood Auditorium.  The link to view the livestream is below, along with the program for the evening.   We look forward to honoring the achievements of the Class of 2021!
