So many of our hopes and dreams are based on college admission – a good school, the right school, an Ivy League school, an alma mater, a nearby public university with a great reputation. We all think about where we want our children to go to college. At Cranbrook, we know that you are already thinking about college.
College admission is competitive. We have a developed strategy. One that has the benefit of years of experience and an thorough understanding of the changing landscape of college admission.
Our strategy is simple. Offer the best academic program at the best private boarding school in Michigan. So, there is no automated scheduling – we develop an individualized program for each student. Our students excel in their passions and foster new interests. They are offered challenging and rigorous coursework at all levels and in all academic subjects – college level classes in math, science, English, history and foreign language. Our prep school program allows each student to create a path that allows them to achieve their goals. Yet, there is more to our academic program than academics. Each student has an advisor whose role is to offer council, direction and support. Beginning freshman year, students accept leadership roles – they volunteer, they are in clubs, they participate in athletics. And the opportunities grow as students mature. Standardized test preparation is part of our curriculum. Our teachers foster critical thinking skills through discussion, coursework and tests. Our students interact daily with peers from other countries – a highly-valued skill for college.
We have a strong college admission staff. Five to be exact, and that makes us the only school in Michigan with five full-time college counselors. All of our counselors have college admission experience and pursue excellence in helping our students with college placement at every level. We have relationships with college admission officers. We ask our parents to evaluate us; we solicit input from college admission officers. In addition to being one of the top private schools in Michigan, we are one of the most technologically advanced admission offices in Michigan.
You will hear a lot of stories from a lot of schools. Some may guarantee admission to certain colleges. Others report facts and scores that are difficult to compare with other schools.
