CK Sailing Team Wins First Place Overall

The CK Sailing team took home 1st place accolades during the Cornwell Memorial Regatta, which took place in Traverse City on October 8. The top team (Cranbrook Blue 1) came in 1st place overall in both the regatta and in the A fleet, and 4th overall in the B fleet.

10 sailors made up the 2.5 teams that competed in the regatta. Each team consists of 4 sailors, 2 per boat in both the A and B fleets. Scoring consists of the sum of individual finishes. Cranbrook made 7 races in each fleet for a total of 14 races. In total, these teams scored 51 points, winning the tiebreaker with another team to receive 1st place overall. This accomplishment marks Cranbrook’s first overall win in the 5 seasons it’s been competing.

Cranbrook’s top team consisted of the following sailors, who earned the following scoring:
A Fleet
Skipper: Allison Glover, '17
Crew: Lauren Winegarden, '20
Glover and Winegarden took 1st place in the A fleet with a total score of 17 points.

B Fleet
Skipper: Buddy (Alessandro) Ford-Rippolone, '17
Crew: Celine (Yu) Chou, '17
Ford-Rippolone and Chou placed 4th overall out of 14 boats, with an outstanding 2nd place finish in one of the races.
