Cranbrook Schools Junior Earns Top Score on SAT

Cranbrook Schools junior Nikhil Baddam earned a top composite score of 2400 on a recent SAT test. Though the exact number of students earning a composite score of 2400 varies from year to year, less than one-twentieth of one percent, on average, will earn a top score. Among test takers in the high school graduating class of 2012, for example, only 360 out of approximately 1.65 million students earned a composite score of 2400.

The SAT has been used a measure of student college preparedness since its creation in 1926, and has since enabled millions of students and schools to assess their readiness to enter college. Critical reading, mathematics, and writing proficiencies are assessed individually through multiple-choice, student-produced, and essay responses. By testing students on the subject matter they have studied in their high school classes, the SAT examines how they utilize and apply that knowledge and the impact their critical thinking skills will have upon their future college performance. SAT test scores are accepted by all major U.S. colleges, and scores of 2400 provide colleges with evidence of student readiness for the academic rigors that lie ahead.

Through his great accomplishment, Baddam follows in the footsteps of Cranbrook Schools alumna Iris Huang, who also received a top SAT score in 2014.

Congratulations, Nikhil!
