STATE CHAMPS x 2!

Boys' Hockey and Boys' Swim/Dive teams bring home State trophies!

Saturday, March 14th was a great day for Cranbrook Kingswood athletics, as two teams, Boys Hockey and Boys Swim/Dive, secured Division 3 State Championship titles!

Boys Hockey
The boys’ hockey team earned a 17th banner in a decisive march through the playoff rounds, culminating in a 4-0 shutout victory over the Houghton Gremlins. Senior Austin Alger was named as this season’s recipient of the prestigious Mr. Hockey title. Presented by the Michigan High School Hockey Coaches’ Association, the award is given to the most outstanding player in the State.

Boys Swim/Dive
The boys’ swim/dive team not only repeated as back-to-back State Champs, but racked up 5 All-American designations, were State Champions in 5 events, broke 3 State Records, and 6 Cranbrook records. If that was not enough to make any Crane proud, senior Mitch Buccalo was named the D3 Swimmer of the Year, and Head Coach Karl Hodgson was named Coach of the Year.

UPDATE: Boys Swim/Dive team "repeat" makes history, along with two other local teams! Click here to read an article on how dedicated swimmers and fantastic coaching led to the first-ever "triple double."
