Purim
(Feast of Lots) A joyous holiday celebrating the rescue of the Jews of ancient Persia from a plot to destroy them. The holiday includes reading the Megillah (Scroll of Esther), graggers (noise-makers), exchanging gifts, and special pastries known as "hamantashen." Begins at sundown the previous day.
