Lax Jam 2013 Announces Bridge the Divide Lacrosse Equipment Drive | | We are proud to announce an important new partnership with Bridge the Divide. Cranbrook Kingswood students will host an equipment drive during Lax Jam weekend to support their efforts to grow the sport of lacrosse in Detroit.
Bridge the Divide is a club established at Cranbrook Kingswood Upper School that engages students with the community and world around them. Bridge the Divide is currently in its second year of running a summer lacrosse program at Clark Park in Southwest Detroit. This program is included in recreational activities for neighborhood children in Southwest Detroit. We really want to connect the culture of lacrosse to doing good in the city of Detroit, and last summer, the children were capitivated by the sport. This summer, we would like to see kids with their own equipment to use during practice as well as at home. We would also like to expand the program with scrimmages with other summer leagues. Our goal before the summer is to provide each participate with a stick and a ball in order to grow their game, as well as spread the game of lacrosse in Detroit. Any equipment helps grow the game and bring opportunities to children in Detroit.
Please contribute to this project and help those less fortunate than us through the game of lacrosse. The equipment drive will be open throughout Lax Jam weekend. Please bring your used equipment to the main apparel sales tent in the Vendor Village. Thank you! |
